Faces of the Show
Tess Bargebuhr is a senior at UNCW majoring in Communication Studies and double minoring in Journalism and Spanish. She recently returned from a semester studying Spanish in Chile and traveling South America. She currently works as an intern for WWAY News. She plays on the UNCW Women's Club Lacrosse team and works with Teal TV as co-anchor of Seahawk Central Sports. She hopes to work in news after graduation and move to Washington D.C.
James is a senior communication studies major at UNCW planning to graduate in May 2016. Before deciding to attend school, he served four years in the Marines. After graduation he plans to return to the Marine Corps as an officer. This is his first time being on camera and hosting a TV show.
Tess Bargebuhr is back as a host for the second season of WingSpan. She is excited to be taking on this role as well as having the chance to dive deeper into reporting with our new on location segment of the show.
Mikaela has a passion for the arts. After 6 years of performing in musical theatre in St. Louis, NYC, and CA, Mikaela is now a senior in the communication studies department at UNCW. She is currentlythe on-air host and producer for her lifestyle's show Port City Spotlight through TealTV and works as a public speaking tutor at the University Learning Center. She is the voice-over and narration artist for the Watson School of Education's video modules. Mikaela enjoys singing and performing slam poetry in the Wilmington area and is excited to explore her performance background more after graduation.
Charlotte is a senor Communication Studies major at UNCW. In addition to being one of our co-hosts on WingSpan, she is the Director of Philarthropy for the Alpha Phi Fraternity and a member of the Seabelles Women's A Capella group. After graduation she hopes to go into a career in Public Relations. In her free time, Charlotte loves writing her blog, Sunshine Daily, and cheering on the Carolina Panthers!
As a field reporter for WingSpan, Alexander is interested in interacting with local politicians to gain insight their positions and plans. A junior Political Science major and Pre-Law minor, he hopes to attend law school to study disability law after graduating from UNCW. Alexander is a Caretaker at the ARC of North Carolina and enjoys lacrosse, running, and of course the beach!
Political Science major and Pre-Law minor, Matthew is excited to learn more about field production working on WingSpan. A senior, Matthew hopes to attend law school in Charlotte and aspires to work with the Mecklenburg County prosecutor's office. He may even run to political office one day! When he's not studying politics, Matthew enjoys riding his motorcycle and spending time with his wife and son.
As one of WingSpan's co-hosts, Sydney looks forward to meeting and learning from guests of the show. Sydney is an active member of the UNCW Upperman Center and works for Campus Life. She is an intern for the Andrew Barnhill Campaign and is involved in the Cucalorus Film Festival in Wilmington. She also loves to sing, cook, and write short stories. As an International Studies and Communication Studies double-major, she hopes to one day join the FBI as a linguist and Counterterrorism/ Foreign Service Officer.
Meghan, a senior studying Communication and Journalism, joins WingSpan as a field reporter. She brings to the team much experience as the TealTV Sports Producer, a Seahawk Digital Network Sideline Reporter, and a WECT Nightside Intern. She shines academically as a member of Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honors Society, Tau Sigma Transfer Student Honors Society, and the Communication Studies Society. Meghan's favorite part of WingSpan is getting more involved in the community and connecting with local officials.
