New Episode! Hispanic and Latino Students in our Education System
December 2, 2016
WingSpan is back! This episode we are revisiting the topic of education from season one, but this time through a different lens. Our focus this week is on Hispanic and Latino students in the education pipeline and the resources available to those students in New Hanover County from pre-Kindergarten all the way up to higher education. In the studio, Sydney spoke with Krista Turner and Jane Morrow of Smart Start New Hanover County, a non-profit organization with the goal of preparing young students for success in the “2,000 days between birth and the start of kindergarten.” To speak on higher education for these student on our campus we were also joined by Centro Hispano President, Mindy Rodriguez and the MI CASA Youth Mentoring Program Advisor for Centro Hispano, Chris Montero.
